Diving from Portland April 23, 2005

Posted by Mark Gilmour in : UK diving , trackback

23rd April - St Georges Day, Portland, M2 & Pulpit Rock. First time down at Portland, again met up with Simon Hanmer from YD, to dive with him, his wife Andrea and a friend, Neil. The plan was to dive Sidon, a WW1 sub in 34m. Unfortunately the fog was thick and Julian, the Skipper called that and instead we went to M2, also a WW1 sub in 34m. I was very excited at the prospect of diving my first sub. Unfortunately my reg conspired against me and so it wasn’t too be. I had to sit it out on the surface while the others went down. There was only 6m Viz anyway!!!! Back to shore, changed regs and off out again to do a drift dive off Pulpit rock. Excellent drift with lots of sea life, Ballan Wrasse, Edible Crab. So at least I got one dive in.
